For the theme of this annual report, we looked at what being a Scout meant. This custom art poster communicated both the symbolic meaning behind the Scout salute and the idea of learning by doing. The individual illustrations represent the many character-building activities in Scouting while the design combines them all into a distinctive, singular image that is instantly recognizable, the Scout salute.

Although the annual report has lived online for many years, there was still a print element sent to board members and top-level donors. But one question I always ask myself: who am I really designing for? At the end of the day, it is the young Scouts who make up the organization, and I wanted this poster available to them as well. That’s why we also made it a free downloadable poster, available through the annual report website.
