2019 ANNUAL REPORT
Heart of America Council-BSA
In 2020, the Heart of America Council-BSA faced yet another challenge: Covid-19. Every year prior, a printed mailer has been sent to board members and top-level sponsors and donors to announce the annual report. But sending a possible virus through the mail seemed unsafe. For the first time, admist an abundance of caution, we eliminated the print piece. But what did that mean for our project? Did we have to scrap our concept and start over?
No … we just made sure our messaging also included the myriad ways Scouts stayed connected through the pandemic and we got creative about how to deliver that message: through Scouting you create strong bonds, like family, and those bonds carry you through the hard times.
Instead of physical, vinyl stickers (that you can put on your thermos, notebook, car), we took those stickers virtual and made a bunch of animated gifs and digital stickers for Scouts to download to enhance their social storytelling. We even created a branded Giphy channel for the Heart of America Council.
